No one in the group is a qualified florist but we take home an arrangement that we are very proud to
display.
August’s theme was a hanging arrangement, - no it wasn’t based around a gibbet !!! It was a floral arrangement that could be hung from a door, the back of a chair or a pew end.
The theme for July was ‘Celebration’ and we produced arrangements covering subjects as diverse as ‘The Grand Prix’, ‘It’s a Girl’ and ‘Golden Wedding’.
At the May meeting we successfully made a floral arrangement using three flowers and foliage based very loosely on the Ikebana theme. Ikebana for the uninitiated is a Japanese Art form using three lines to represent Heaven, Man and Earth. The longest line representing Heaven, the shortest line being the earth and the middle line is man. The arrangement must be asymmetrical symbolising balance between the three lines. It sounds very complicated but as complete novices at this discipline we all felt very proud of our floral displays.
